There is a small Kuriste church hidden in the woodlands of Hiiumaa island, which belongs to the Estonian Apostolic Orthodox Church (Eesti Apostlik-Õigeusu Kirik) . The church was built in 1890, but after the Second world war under the Soviet regime it was abandoned. Local congregation restored the church during the last decade, and in October 2011 the old altar was consecrated by the Metropolitian Stefanus.
